About Mobile Applications

The post graduate programme in Mobile Applications and Technologies is designed for the students with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Sciences, Computer Application, IT or related fields.

With new technologies and products being the norm, the mobile application sector is expanding. A recent Juniper research paper puts the figures worth of $25 billion by 2015.

With every major player in this sector vying to dominate, the mobile applications can open dynamic career vistas as no other profession can, and with mobile applications industry forecasted to touch a staggering $10 million, qualified professionals will be in great demand in capacities in areas of Devising, Development and Testing.

The growing use of hand-held computers will create demand for new mobile applications and software systems. As these devices become a larger part of the business environment, it will be necessary to integrate current computer systems with this new mobile technology. The expansion of mobile technology in the next 10 years will lead to an increased need for mobile application developers to design and develop the software and systems to run these new applications and this will allow them to be integrated into older systems.

At this rate, the economic value of the applications sold will surpass the value of the CDs sold in 2012.

The Curriculum

It is a unique mix of hardware and software architectures of mobile devices plus hands-on programming experience on different platforms. The core subjects are Network Architecture, Mobile Device Architecture, Mobile Application Development, Mobile Web Application Development, Java and Advanced Java for Mobile System, and Mobile Eco System and Business Models. The special subjects are Mobile UI Design, Android, VAS, Application Development, and Enterprise Applications, SIP & IMS. In the last semester, the students will have a major project where they have to develop and deploy a real-time application on the mobile device.

The course is structured to groom students with a strong theoretical foundation, practical knowledge and experience in mobile application development.

The students are provided industry expertise right from the first semesters, through guest lectures from industry experts, classroom assignments, live projects and industry internships

Thus, the students will get hands-on experience which will also teach them to work in groups and present their results to industry stalwarts. During the course of their Masters, the students will conceptualize, design and develop a real-time mobile application. Course Objective: The course intends to provide students with comprehensive knowledge, technical expertise and hands-on experience in the field of mobile applications and its associate sector of telecom. The course instills in the students practically applicable knowledge, helping them gain the acumen and technical expertise in the fields of network architecture, device architecture, application development and testing, web application, software system analysis and design, platform specific application development, ecosystem and business models, user interface designing, location based services, value added services, enterprise applications, security in computing, SIP & IMS, and stand-alone application development.
